Welcome to Deer Park! 

The Deer Park Neighborhood Association (DPNA) is so happy to welcome you to our neighborhood! We're thrilled to have you join our vibrant community and hope that you love it as much as we do. 

DPNA is a voluntary non-profit neighborhood association dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all residents. Our board meetings are held from 7-8pm on the first Tuesday of every month at the Bardstown Road Presbyterian Church, located at 1722 Bardstown Road and are open to all. 

Membership dues are $20 annually and can be paid on our website or by check to the DPNA board. Dues help support our various initiatives and events, which include fostering a sense of community, advocating for neighborhood improvements, and organizing social gatherings. 

Below you will find an overview of our initiatives and some logistic tips, such as recycling guidelines and tornado siren information, to help you navigate life in our neighborhood more easily. We look forward to getting to know you and working together to make Deer Park an even better place to live! DPNA Initiatives and Opportunities 

Beer Park: This is a family-friendly event and a great opportunity to connect with friends and family from across our beautiful neighborhood! It takes place on Norris Place between Speed and Roanoke Avenues the last weekend in May or first weekend in June. We also have musical entertainment, local vendors, a bouncy-house, and other fun activities for the kiddos. Porchfest: DPNA presents a free, low-key music festival throughout our community every fall. Deer Park neighbors host various musicians on their porches to support, promote, and discover local artists. For more information check the DPNA website and social media. Pocket Park: In 2026, DPNA broke ground on the Deborah Sprowles Petty Memorial Park on the corner of Radnor Ave. & Speed Ave. We’re still in the early stages of building the park, and it will take a village to create this wonderful community space. Book Club: Join the Deer Park book club! Meet your neighbors, enjoy drinks/snacks, and discuss each quarter’s book at a new local business. Newsletter and Communications: Newsletter and Communications: Deer Park delivers a physical newsletter on a quarterly basis to every porch in the neighborhood and maintains the Deer Park Social Media accounts. If you’d like to help deliver newsletters, write articles, design, or help with social media, please email communications@deerparklouisville.com.

Tree Champions: The Deer Park Tree Champion initiative offers residents the opportunity to enhance their yards and contribute to the community's tree canopy. For a donation to the DPNA, participants receive a consultation with a trained tree consultant who helps select the ideal tree for their space. The initiative includes planting in late October. Century Markers: DPNA sells beautiful cast brass “century markers” to recognize the many historic homes that are 100 years or older in Deer Park. The sale happens annually and the markers are sold just above cost as a fundraiser for DPNA. Please check the newsletter, website here, and social media pages for updates.

Neighborhood Advocacy: Board members attend the Metro District 8 advisory council meetings with the D8 Metro Councilperson to advocate for Deer Park. The board also monitors short term rental applications and advocates for infrastructure improvements like sidewalk repairs.

Recycling and Trash: Download The Recycle Coach App for the trash, recycling, and yard waste pick-up schedule. Large item pickups are now offered by appointment only. You can learn more about the bulk trash appointments at louisvilleky.gov/government/public-works/services/junk-and-bulk-trash-disposal

Street Sweeping: Keep an eye on posted signs for street sweeping days. You can also subscribe to street sweeping alerts by visiting Louisvilleky.gov and clicking on "Address Lookup." Enter your address and choose it from the dropdown. Click on Street Sweeping Reminders to sign up to be notified by email or text. 

Storm Sirens: Outdoor Warning Sirens may be activated for Tornado Warnings, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings, if there will be sustained winds of 45 MPH or greater with 1” hail, Hazardous Materials incidents, or Civil Emergencies. Sirens are not activated for watches of any kind. Every siren in Metro Louisville is tested on the second Tuesday of each month at 12:00 p.m. so please listen for your siren and become familiar with the sound. Outdoor Warning Sirens are only designed for “OUTDOOR NOTIFICATION” and are not intended to alert citizens who are already indoors. For indoor notification please go to smart911.com and sign up. If you hear a siren, immediately go indoors and turn to local media sources for further information.  

Farmers Market: We are fortunate enough to have the Bardstown Road Farmers Market year-round at the Bardstown Road Presbyterian Church parking lot. The Farmers Market takes place on Saturdays: Hours are 10am – 12pm (December – March) and 9am – 12pm (April – November).

Snow Removal & Assistance: If you need help clearing snow or want to be added to the list of snow removal volunteers, email snow@deerparklouisville.com with your name, address, and phone number and indicate if you need help or would like to volunteer with our Snow Support Team.
