Deer Park's First Park!
The DPNA Board of Directors is thrilled to announce that we acquired a lot of land at the corner of Radnor Ave and Speed Ave to build Deer Park's first pocket park! We are so excited to build a community space for the neighborhood, but will need your help to do so!
This land was donated to DPNA by Donald Petty in 2026 and the park will be dedicated to his late wife, Debbie Sprowles Petty (1955-2011). Donald met Debbie at Highland Middle School in 1969. They were married in 1971, graduated from Atherton in 1972, and were married until her death in 2011. He loved her dearly and wants to honor her with this park that neighbors Highland Middle School, the place where they first met! The park will be named Debbie Sprowles Petty Memorial Park in her honor.

Volunteers Needed:
Park Cleanup Work Days
By early October, the Deer Park Neighborhood Association plans to install a beautiful new park sign along with a small seating area and memorial bench honoring Debbie Sprowles Petty. These cleanup days are an important first step toward preparing the park for those improvements.
DPNA is organizing three volunteer cleanup and beautification days at the park, located at Radnor Avenue and Speed Avenue next to Highland Middle School.
Volunteer Work Days:
Wednesday, August 26 — 5:30–8:30 p.m.
Thursday, August 27 — 5:30–8:30 p.m.
Saturday, August 29 — 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
*Saturday may end earlier depending on turnout & progress
What we'll be working on:
Removing weeds, vines, and overgrowth
Clearing fence lines
Trimming bushes and low limbs
Removing brush and debris
General cleanup and beautification
Possibly beginning excavation/prep for the future pathway
What we especially need:
Volunteers!
Pickup trucks for hauling brush & debris
Yard tools and equipment, including:
Hedge trimmers
Weed whackers
Limb saws and pruning saws
Loppers
Mowers
Rakes
Shovels
Other useful tools
No tools? Please still come help. There will be plenty of work for volunteers without equipment.
If you have them, please bring work gloves and eye protection.
