Deer Park Spring 2026 Alley Clean Up
Join us for a Spring Alley Clean Up Throughout Deer Park
Saturday, March 28, 2026
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Information Meeting at 8:30AM at Noche Mexican BBQ - 1838 Bardstown Rd
We all love the beauty of Deer Park, especially in the spring when trees bloom and flowers are planted. Yet one part of our neighborhood often goes unnoticed, our alleyways. These spaces are vital, providing access to garages and parking pads and serving as routes for waste and recycling collection.
Because they’re easy to overlook, our alleys can become overgrown or cluttered with debris and large discarded items. This not only attracts rodents and raccoons but can also invite theft, as many robberies in Louisville occur through alley access. To reduce crime and vermin while improving our neighborhood’s appearance, we’re coming together for this community cleanup.
Email publicworkscommittee@deerparklouisville.com for more info or to volunteer as an Alley Captain
We are pleased to announce that a local business, Vines Wine Bar and Spirits Shop located at 1985 Douglass Ave, will offer a 10% off coupon to everyone who volunteers and participates on Saturday. Find an Alley Captain to get your coupon after the event.
We have registered our event with Operation Brightside and they will provide us with trash bags and gloves. Find an Alley Captain to get these supplies or call me, Kirk, at 502-938-3494 after 9am Saturday.
Afterward, the city will send a sanitation truck to pick up our trash. Therefore, it is important that we concentrate the trash in a convenient location, which will be anywhere along Norris Place.
If you are cleaning east of Norris, then start at Bardstown Road and work westward to Norris. If you are cleaning west of Norris – primarily in the northwest of Deer Park, then start at Newburg Road or Hartman and work eastward.
Alley Captains are meeting in front of Noche Mexican BBQ - 1838 Bardstown Rd at 8:30am Saturday to get organized. All are welcome to attend this meeting to get more information.
Key Tips for a successful event:
Avoid entering someone's property to clean anything unless you have their express permission.
Vines and shrubs that intrude onto the pavement are fair game.
Anything big enough for a large item pickup should be left in the alleyway (don't drag it to Norris).
You can submit a large item pickup via 311, but you should get the owners to do that or at least get their permission.
