Calling All Porches
Want to be a porch (or stoop, or yard, or driveway) host for the 2021 Deer Park Porchfest?
We’re looking for hospitable neighbors who are interested in being a part of something fun for the entire community.
Host Requirements:
Be available on September 18, 2022 from 2-6 PM. If your porch can only be available for part of this time period, please mark the appropriate times on the online form. We will make every effort to accommodate all requests.
As a Porchfest goodwill ambassador, be willing to donate your space and power (minimal) during that entire timeframe (sets time to be assigned).
Be a hospitable host for the performers (no one will need to go inside of your home).
Performances should be restricted to an appropriately low volume for a family-friendly, neighbor-friendly audience. Less amplification is better – we have to be considerate of our neighbors.
Keep track of the schedules, making sure the set times stay on time.
Serve as a Porchfest partner and person in-charge; remain responsible for happenings on your own property. People enjoying the performance should respect your property and your neighbors’ property – the audience should only go where they are invited.
Offer trash and recycle receptacles for your yard guests.
The event will be organized following Kentucky/Louisville Metro guidelines regarding COVID-19, including social distancing and mask wearing. We will work with bands and hosts to implement requirements, as needed. More details regarding this, as well as the possibility of postponement, will be circulated the week before the scheduled date.

Deer Park Neighborhood Porchfest

We envision a low-key music festival with a variety of mostly acoustic, low volume (no loud bands or heavy amplification) music, just loud enough to be heard by those in the immediate vicinity. Neighbors would host entertainers on their porches. It is an opportunity to support, promote, and discover local artists. It will (after COVID) be an opportunity to get together with friends and neighbors.
We have an idea, now we need to put together a plan to make it reality. Lots to do!! This could be really fun!!
Is this something you can support? Do you want to be part of the team putting this together? Have you been to a porchfest, or do you have other experience that would be beneficial to this effort? Are you a musician, or do you know musician that might be interested in performing? Would you like to volunteer your porch to bring some music to the neighborhood?
When I close my eyes I can hear the music and the sun on my face (and I’m writing this as snow and ice is falling from the sky and boating the roadways).
