Bob and Ann Atkin, President, Ivanhoe CourtAnn and Bob have a well-traveled background, settling in Deer Park in 2017 after living in New York City, Miami, coastal North Carolina, Washington DC, and Oldham County. After raising three children - scattered around the U.S. - they retired here. Both like to get out and walk the neighborhood, help neighbors, and enjoy the Highlands. Still travelling quite a bit, they volunteer with different organizations around the Metro area.
Helen Payne, Vice President, Roanoke AvenueHelen is an artist and art educator at Olmsted Academy North and local universities. A New England transplant, Helen has worked hard to put down roots in Louisville, literally! As an avid gardener, her move to Louisville was an opportunity to learn about the amazing native plants of Kentucky. It was also an opportunity to become involved with the Deer Park Neighborhood Association's Tree Champion Program, which aims to restore our canopy to improve air, soil, and water while mitigating the heat island effect. Helen lives with her husband, Jeff Young, the managing editor for the Ohio Valley Resource, and their two young daughters, Hazel and Louisa. You can find them walking in the neighborhood led by their little dog, Harriet.
Curtis Stauffer, Secretary, Maplewood PlaceCurtis has lived in Deer Park since 2011 with his wife, Rachel Cutler. They have a 3 year old daughter who occasionally joins DPNA meetings. He enjoys cycling, hiking, playing the drums, and walks through the park with the family dog.
Jeff Hughes, Treasurer and Immediate Past President, Richmond DriveAfter 20 years on Louisville’s east end, Jeff Hughes and wife Carolyn moved to Richmond Drive in 2014. Jeff, a native Ohioan, is recently retired from finance and marketing jobs at Assurant, Inc. and GE. Deer Park is perfect for Jeff and Carolyn to live this next “chapter” in their lives, especially since their son Tom lives a mile away. Jeff wants to give back to the community through volunteerism and being active in his Deer Park neighborhood. Jeff likes travel, hiking, cycling, astronomy, reading, and DYI projects and landscaping around their new (old) Highlands house.

Seth became a board member to better serve his community and continue to make Deer Park the best neighborhood in our city!
Kate Miller and Mike Pfaff, Ivanhoe CourtKate and Michael have lived in the Deer Park neighborhood for a little over a year after stumbling upon Ivanhoe Court when house-hunting for a place to raise their daughter in 2019. They fell in love with the neighborhood, especially the court where children play freely and safely. Both Kate and Michael work in the non-profit sector. When they are not working, they are enjoying a walk in Cherokee park or a coffee down the street at Sunergos. They have two dogs, Susie and Bo.
Alan Scherer, Stevens AvenueAlan has been on the Deer Park board for 40 years. He has served as President at different times for 14 years. He received numerous awards, including the neighborhood president of the year, the Bell award, and other honors. He was appointed to the Bardstown Overlay committee by then-mayor Jerry Abramson, where he served 10 years. Alan was responsible for the "No" campaign against a 24 hour service station at Eastern Parkway and Bardstown Road. He led the association to opposing movie theaters and a dance club at the Schuster building. The theaters decided instead to locate at Mid-City Mall. He led the Steven Avenue residents in P.R.I.D.E, Proud Residents in Defense of the Environment. He also worked to support relocating Plasma Alliance from Stevens Avenue and Bardstown Road to Crums Lane. This led to the revitalization of Bardstown Road, and Seviche is now located there. Alan is a neighborhood activist and believes Deer Park is the best place to live, raise a family, eat, and retire.

They rent their house on Deerwood Avenue from Allison’s aunt who bought the house in 2003. Allison has wonderful memories of the Deer Park Neighborhood as a child including learning to ride her bike on the sidewalk on Bardstown Rd between Deerwood and Deer Park as well as walks to the Twig and Leaf for biscuits and gravy. Allison is currently a graduate student at the University of Louisville studying Political Science and hopes to make a more permanent home in Deer Park in the future. She became involved with the Deer Park Neighborhood Association in 2020. She encourages everyone, renters and owners alike, to join the neighborhood association and get involved!
